Jessie M. Brown

Jessie Maxine “Mickey” Brown, 85, of N. Juliana St., Bedford, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at Meadowview Nursing Center in Berlin.  She was born June 30, 1925 in Indiana, daughter of the late David B. and Bertha O. (Watt) Shirley.  She was formerly married to the late Earnest A. Brown.  She is survived by two daughters; Karen L. Brown of Bedford and Connie M. wife of Ronald H. Steele of Hopewell, three grandsons; Ronald B. Steele and former wife Janet, Andrew J. Steele and wife Jessica, and Matthew D. Steele and wife Bobbi Jo, two great grandsons; Wyatt and Benjamin and a sister JoAnne wife of Walter Herrit of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, William B. Shirley and Gerald L. Shirley, husband of Jettrude of Indiana, and a sister Gene Pierce.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Bedford Christian & Missionary Alliance, of which she was one of the founding members.  She was an officer in the former Bedford Merchants Association for several years, PTA and a member of the Bedford Salvation Army Board.  She was a retired site manager at Bedford Senior Center, prior to that worked at Hedstrom, owned the K&D Shoe Store in Bedford and worked at the Shoebox.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bedford Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with Rev. Steve Egbert officiating.  Entombment at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Saturday morning one hour prior to the service at the Church.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
