James L. Whisner, 67, of Union Street, Bedford, died Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. He was born on January 13, 1946, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Robert L. and Zella Mae (Batt) Whisner. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Whisner on May 19, 2004. He is survived by a son, James Caldwell Whisner and fiancée Kay Unangst, of Bath, and a daughter, Debbie Whisner-Dempster, of Bedford, a step-son, Ian Race, a step-daughter: Robyn Loughren-Race; five grandchildren: James, Oshawna, Veronica, Desire, and Mykal; two great-grandchildren: Steven and Leigha; one step-granddaughter: Victoria; two brothers: Larry Whisner of Alum Bank, and Rob Whisner of Broad Top, and two sisters: Dixie Ake of Bedford, and Carol Price of New Paris.
James was very active at the Real Life Assembly of God Church. He was the head electrical foreman, and helped build many structures at the Old Bedford Village, and was also a truck driver, and self-employed contractor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and woodworking.
There will be a breakfast at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday December 7, 2013 at Real Life Church in Bedford in Jim's memory. Anyone who would like to attend, please RSVP as soon as possible at (814) 623-9218.
