James Guynn Reynolds, 85, of Bedford died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at
UPMC Bedford Memorial.
He was born in West Newton, Pa., on Oct. 27, 1921, the only son of Dr.
Harry R. and Fern (Guynn) Reynolds.
Surviving are his wife, Marcy Coffman Reynolds; daughter Kay Reynolds,
son Gregg Reynolds, grandson James G. Fungaroli and wife Perci S. Fungaroli
and great-grandsons Conor Fungaroli and Cole Fungaroli.
He was educated at Augusta Military Acadamy in Staunton, Va., and was a
graduate of West Newton High School. Mr. Reynolds served in the U.S. Army
Signal Corps in World War II. He was awarded the Phillippine Liberation
Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three
Bronze Stars, and the Phillippine Presidential Unit Citation Badge. He held
the rank of technical sergant.
He worked for the Mellon family of Ligonier for many years and owned the
well-known Coffee Shop resturant in Somerset before moving to Bedford to
manage the ski shop at the newly opened Blue Knob Ski Area. He was a
petroleum landman working for Amoco Production and other oil companies in
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan and West Virginia until his retirement.
His quiet, unassuming manner and wicked sense of humor will be missed by
all who knew and loved him. He was a wonderful writer and an avid reader. He
was well traveled and particularly loved the Southwest. He was an
accomplished cook and a raconteur of good stories. He will be greatly
missed by his family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of
