James T. Pogue Sr., 73 of Alexis Ave., Dayton, Ohio, died Friday June 17, 2011, at the Life Care Hospital in Miamisburg, OH. He was born May 3, 1938 in Cumberland, MD, son of the late William L Pogue Sr., and Sara L. Thompson Pogue. On September 3, 1959 in Winchester, VA, he married Kaye L. Pogue, and his death ends a marriage union of 51 years. Along with his wife he is survived by a son, James T. Pogue Jr., and wife Trovia of Beavercreek, OH, and a daughter Dianna wife of Bobby Mann of Riverside, OH, two grandsons; David Mann and James Nicholas Pogue Sr. and wife Rachel, a granddaughter, Holly wife of Stanton Caroll. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, James Caroll, James Nicholas Pogue Jr., and Holton Caroll. He was preceded in death by a brother William Pogue Jr., husband of Josephine Pogue, who survives of Carlisle.
Mr. Pogue was a member of the Alley United Methodist Church of Beavercreek, OH, and was an avid outlaw sprint car fan. He was a member of the Teamsters Union for 35 years. He retired from Roadway Express after 20 years and prior to that had driven for Eastern for 15 years.
A Memorial service will be held on June 24, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Alley United Methodist Church, 4143 Kemp Road, Beavercreek, OH. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park, in Bedford PA. Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
