James H. Folk, 81, of Quaker Valley Road, Alum Bank, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 1, 1932, in Berlin, a son of the late Ullyses G. and Minnie (Shaffer) Folk. On March 31, 1962, in Alum Bank, he married Jeanne Mock, who survives along with the following family: a daughter, Mary wife of Donald Rowzer, and a son, Jim Folk, and wife Nancy, all of Alum Bank; grandchildren: Mindy wife of Graham Shadle, Sara Rowzer Pincin formerly married to Dan Pincin, Jessie wife of Kyle Hess, and Emily Folk, three great-grandchildren: Landyn, Jaelyn, and Madison, and a great-grandchild, due to arrive in October; a sister, Evelyn Espey, of Melbourne, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ken, Don, and Bob Folk, and a sister Loretta Esken.
Jim was a member of the Liberty Bible Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, and then retired with Standard Register, after 27 years. He was dearly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and by all who knew him. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to Windber Hospice, for the wonderful care given to him and support for our family.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Stewart McClelland officiating. Burial at Mount Union Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday.
