Rev. James E. Cuppett

Rev. James E. Cuppett, 68 of Cedar Lane, Bedford, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Altoona Hospital.  He was born January 8, 1943 in Johnstown, son of the late George M. and Anna I. (Smith) Cuppett.  On August 8, 1964 in Johnstown, he married Carol A. Lingenfelter, and she survives along with two sons; Chris Cuppett, married to the former Ann Mitchell of Salisbury, MD and Brian Cuppett, married to the former Lisa Sautner of Greenville, SC, five grand children; Max, Ellie, Jack, Andrew and Nicholas, and one sister Lois wife of James Siehl of Schellsburg.  He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Grubb, wife of Robert of New Jersey and a brother Richard Cuppett, husband of Sandra of Virginia.

Rev. Cuppett had been a Presbyterian Minister for 30 years, serving churches in Roscoe, Johnstown and retiring in 1996 from the Ebensburg Presbyterian Church.  He was also a Stephens Ministry Trainer at the First United Methodist Church in Ormond Beach, FL. Throughout his career, as well as in his personal life, he was admired for his ready smile and quick wit.  Jim was well known for patiently listening to all who needed an ear.  He was an inspiration to all

Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church in Johnstown, with Rev. Doug Friant, Rev. James R. Farrer and Rev. Alice Tondora officiating.  Burial will be at the Cuppett Cemetery in New Paris.  Friends will be received on Sunday afternoon, from 2-6 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 145 S.
