James R. Blattenberger

James R. Blattenberger, 81, of Bedford, passed on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was born on March 3, 1943, in Bedford, a son of the late Robert E. and Dorothy V. (McCreary) Blattenberger. On December 29, 1979, in New Paris, he married Sara Kay (Shroyer) Blattenberger who survives along with a step-son Jeremy and wife Lisa of Osterburg; two children from a previous marriage; three grandchildren:  Karen, Brett, and Cindy and seven great-grandchildren who are all residing in Florida.  He was preceded in death by brother Robert I. "Bobby" Blattenberger.

James attended Real Life Church in Bedford.  He graduated from Bedford High School in 1961, and worked for Kennametal for approximately 10 years before getting into the residential construction business.  After building several homes in the area he moved to Naples, Fl, where he continued in the home construction until his health failed him.  After 10 years of success and over 200 homes built in the Naples area he returned with his wife to their roots in Bedford. He enjoyed taking hunting trips out west and in Alaska.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the Real Life Church, in Bedford, with Pastor Brian Swain officiating.  Burial at Fishertown Cemetery.
