James R. Bigger Sr.

James "Jim" R. Bigger Sr., 78, of Giants Road, Bedford, died on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Altoona Regional Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1934, a son of the late Ellery J. and Jane (Kreigelstein) Bigger. On October 4, 1986, in North Rose, NY, he married Marilynn L. Burnette who survives along with the following family: two sons: Ralph E. Bigger of Oklahoma, and James R. Bigger Jr .and wife Shelly of Princeton, MN, a daughter, Patricia A. wife of Richard Westling of Chipley, FL, two step-sons, Charles “Charlie” W. Karns of Everett, and Shannon L. Karns of Naoma, WV, 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren,  a special step-grandson, Brandon "Billy"  Karns, two step-granddaughters, Brittany and husband Jeremy Smith of Everett, and Leah Karns of Walkersville, MD, a step-grandson, Jacob Karns of Everett, step-great-grandson Parker Smith, a step-great-granddaughter Nola Brown, a sister, Lila B. Driver of Dallas, TX, and a special sister-in-law Catherine Dellinger of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by a daughter Cindy Burton wife of Richard of Lula, GA, a granddaughter Gretchen Bigger, and a brother E.J. Bigger.

Jim was of the Protestant Faith, and was a mechanical supervisor for Lane Construction Co, retiring after 58 years with the Engineers Union Local #832. He was a former member for Bedford Moose.

A Memorial Service will be held in New York at a later date.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial Contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Shriners Children Hospital, C/O Patrick Westling, 12502 USF Pine Dr.
