Jacques E. “Jack” James 80 of Echo Vale Drive, Bedford, died Monday morning, November 3, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 1, 1928 in Bedford, son of the late Edwin and Georgie (Beckley) James. On June 21, 1947 in Cumberland, MD he married Grace Tritt and she survives along with two daughters: Shelley K. James of High Falls, NY and Jacqueline L. Hoover of Bedford, four grandchildren: Michelle Chamberlain, Dray Holland, Bryan and Michael Hoover, three great grandchildren: Jordon, Abigail and Annabel, two cousins: Betty Lou Richardson and Anna Mary Whitfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Sherrie Lynn and three brothers: William, Robert and Frederick James.
Mr. James was a 1946 graduate of Bedford High School and a member of the band. He was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church. He was also a member and avid golfer at the Bedford Elks Club for many years. He enjoyed taking part in his grandchildren’s activities and spent memorable time with them. He was an accomplished craftsman, building his home and much of the furniture. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral Services; Wednesday, 11:00 AM in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
