Jack Z. Snyder, 72, of Big Pine Road, Bedford, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 19, 1940, in Confluence, a son of the late Amos D. and Florence Mae (Zimmerman) Snyder. On August 30, 1985, he married Debra Strayer who survives along with the following family: two daughters, Christine wife of Stephen Bollman Jr. of Imler, and Jacqueline wife of James Oldham of New Paris, 3 grandchildren: Jeremy, Stacey, Tristian, five other children: Greg, Robert, Cindy, Aaron, and Brooke, and eight other grandchildren; also three brothers, Elmer H. Snyder of Bedford, Amos D. Snyder of Stoystown, and James W. Snyder of Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother Matthew A. Snyder, and a niece Angie Snyder.
He was Navy Veteran and well known for snow plowing and building homes. He enjoyed hunting, watching football, NASCAR, collecting trains, and spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Raymond E. Short officiating. Burial at Sweet Root Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
