Jack L. Seifert

Bedford

Jack L. Seifert 86 of Bedford, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Altoona.  He was born on March 15, 1935, in Wolfsburg, a son of the late Martin J. and Eva G. (Clites) Seifert.  On November 24, 1955 in Bedford, he married Beverly V. (Arnold) Seifert who preceded him in death on August 5, 2007.  He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Shaffer and husband Brian of Bedford, Wendy Fleegle and husband Barry, of Manns Choice, Tina Beck and husband Jerry, of Osterburg; 20 grandchildren: Joe Brady and wife Danielle, Brook Shaffer and wife Ally, Shaun Shaffer and wife Harmony, Derek and Ethan Sarver, Josh and Bailee Brown, Jordan, Jacob, and Jennah Hershberger, Megan Tritt and husband Zach, Sara Scritchfield and fiancé Steve, Travis and Todd Fleegle, Kristy and Curtis Harr, Jourdan, Brandon, Cameron, and Jillian Beck; 5 great-grandchildren: Jordan, Maddison, Nikki, Collin, Paisley, and one a few weeks away Everleigh; and a sister Martha Snyder, of Akron, OH.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Jacqueline Hershberger; a niece Cindy Runion; a sister Emma Runion and husband Russell “Chub”, and two brothers: James Seifert and wife Betty, and Joseph Seifert and wife Verna.

Jack served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from June of 1955 until December of 1956.  He then was employed as a supervisor at Standard Register and JLG before retirement.  Jack enjoyed woodworking, making something for his children and grandchildren every year, and gardening.  He was a caring father and grandfather, who will be sorely missed.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 9:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Bedford, with Father Richard Tomkosky Celebrant.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Sunday from 4-6 p.m., at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to: St. Vincent De Paul, 215 E.
