Jack Fleegle, 80, of Ridgewood Drive, New Paris, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 30, 1932, in Windber, a son of the late Foster and Thelma (Bowser) Fleegle. On May 19, 1966, in Cumberland, MD, he married Anna Belle (O’Neal) Fleegle who survives along with the following family: three sons Barry Fleegle married to the former Wendy Seifret of Manns Choice, Mark Fleegle married to the former Janet Smith of Fishertown, and Kent Fleegle married to the former Amanda Arlott of Alum Bank; two daughters Marlene Rankin of Manns Choice, and Cheri Fleegle of Alum Bank; 11 grandchildren: Travis, Todd, Kristy, Jennifer, Stephanie, Courtney, Trisha, Cayla, Casey, Ashlee, and Marcy, 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter be born in November; and a sister Kathleen and husband Robert “Bob” Fleegle of Bedford. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Charlotte Imgrund and Nancy Crawford-Weaverling.
Jack was affiliated with the Fishertown Community Church. He worked for various places such as Howard Johnson’s Commissary as a meat cutter, a service attendant at Exxon at the Bedford Interchange, Thomas Chevrolet for 26 years as a service manager, and then at Heatland Hall as head of maintenance and security for 6 years. His love of working with the public led him to his last job as a people greeter at the Everett Wal-Mart. Anyone who knew Jack knew that he could no sit still. He loved to be outside mowing his lawn and landscaping and anytime there was a nice sunny day you could catch Jack tinkering with anything he could find. He also enjoyed looking for a good bargain at the local flea market. Jack’s other passion was his dogs, BJ, Coco, Bruno, and the late Benjamin whom he referred to as “His Boys.” Jack was a loving, caring person who will be greatly missed by all.
