Jack S. Bowser, 81 of Lincoln Drive, Bedford, died Sunday, November 22, 2009. He was born May 21, 1928 in Bedford, son of the late Ralph and Mae (Hafer) Bowser. He was preceded in death by his first wife Anna Mae on January 3, 1992. On September 4, 2001 he married Mary Stiffler and she survives along with five children: Janice B. wife of Russ Diers, Linda A. Bowser, both of Tucson, AZ, James R. Bowser, married to the former Diane Klein of Cranberry TWP, Lisa L. wife of Robert Young of Denver, PA, Chad W. Bowser, married to the former Brenda Elentrio of Lansdale, two step-children; Dr. William M. Stiffler, married to the former Doris Hicks of Bedford and Carolyn J. wife of David Almond of Sanford, NC, eight grandchildren: Ashley, Sarah, Jesse, Scott, Gabe, Kris, Richard and Anna, five step-grandchildren: Andrew, Bryan, Christopher, Laura Jo and Bryce, and two great grandchildren.
Mr. Bowser was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of Bedford Elks Lodge 1707, Bedford Masonic Lodge #320 F. & A.M. He volunteered at the Bedford Food Pantry, was an avid golfer and pinochle player, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He retired in 1983 after 39 years, as manager for Exxon Corp. on the turnpike.
Funeral service: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from St. John’s UCC Church in Bedford with Rev. Roger Stine and Rev. Joseph Puleo officiating. Burial at Bedford Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from noon until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to; Home Nursing Agency, 227 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA 15537.
