Iva B. Ickes

Iva B. Ickes 78 of Eichler Road, Fishertown, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Altoona Hospital after a lengthy illness.  She was born December 1, 1929 in Pavia, daughter of the late Grant Alton and Sarah Cleo (Mowry) Ickes.  On November 3, 1951 in Cumberland, MD she married Edwin C. “Ted” Ickes and he survives along with three children: Wayne C. Ickes of Fishertown, Linda B. wife of Randy Smith of Schellsburg, Boyd E. Ickes of Manns Choice, seven grandchildren: Danielle L.Bowers, Chad Bowers, Randi Lynne Smith, Brian, Christopher, Charleen and Chelsie Ickes.  Also surviving are the following  brothers and sister: Clark Ickes widower of Dorothy of Claysburg, Russell Dean Ickes and wife Nancy of St. Clairsville, Mary L. wife of Doyle Dick of Roaring Spring and Boyd Ickes and wife Kathleen of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by five brothers: Charles Ickes, Waugaman Ickes, husband of Doris of Lancaster, Landis Ickes, husband of Ann of Fishertown, John Ickes husband of Elsie of Osterburg and Frederick Ickes.

Eva was a member of the Fishertown Community Bible Church and retired in 1988 as head cook for Chestnut Ridge High School after 20 years.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Larry Bartholomew officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at wwwberkebilefuneralhome.com.
