Hope L. Wolsko

Hope L. (Gephart) Wolsko, 87, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Altoona Hospital.  She was born November 18, 1921 in Hyndman, daughter of the late Maynard Clark Gephart and Harriet (Smith) Gephart.  On June 1, 1945 in New York City, she married John F. Wolsko of Pittsburgh, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2006.

She was a loving mother and housewife that volunteered in various organizations in Pittsburgh and Bedford.  Many long hours of service were given to the Pioneer Historical Society of Bedford County. She was active in the Colonial Dames and the local DAR Chapter where she served as chaplin.  She enjoyed making crafts, playing cards, and bingo, as well as reading.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Wolsko is survived by two daughters; Dona H. Zimmerman of Wilmington, DE and Jupiter, FL, and Lolly Volk and Husband Stephen of Suntree, FL, two grandsons; Jonathan Volk of Suntree, FL and Scott Zimmerman of Chicago, IL, and granddaughter Danielle Zimmerman of Wilmington, DE.  A special thanks to Julie Chappell, Missy Shomo, Catrina Sell, Patricia Work and Dorothy Eichler for their special loving care.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning November 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Donald Dusza celebrant.  Friends will be received on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 8:00 p.m.  Those wishing may make contributions to the Bedford County Historical Society, 6441 Lincoln Highway, Bedford, PA  15522 in her memory.  Our online guest book is available at
