Homer G. Huston

Homer G. Huston, 91 of Donahue Manor Road, Bedford, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.   He was born October 6, 1918 in Shade TWP, son of the late George and Frieda (Zimmerman) Huston.  On January 21, 1944 in Shanksville, he married Mary L. Gromley, and she survives along with a son William E. Huston, married to the former Susan Moore of Coatesville,  and a daughter Nancy Deibert of Hummelstown, four grandchildren; Gemma O’Sullivan, Laura Huston, Nathan Deibert and Sarah Appelbury, one great grandson, Matthew.   Also surviving is a sister Dorothy McIntyre of Bedford and two brothers; Merle Huston and wife Ella of Sebring, FL, and Philip Huston and wife Anna of Central City.  He was preceded in death by two brothers; Harry and Fred Huston and a sister Hazel Wilson.

Mr. Huston was of the Lutheran faith.  He retired from Bethlehem Steel as an inspector, and was a World War II army veteran who served in the European Theater.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and was a good husband, father and grandfather.

Memorial services: Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Yeager Lutheran Church in Rainsburg, with Rev. Jenny Barnes officiating.  There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Yeager Lutheran Church, 3419, Main Road, Bedford, PA or Home Nursing/Hospice Agency, 227 Hospital Drive, Everett, PA.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
