Hilda K. Mardorff

Hilda Kathryn Mardorff, 94, of Bedford, died, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home.  She was born on January 28, 1921, in Bedford, a daughter of the late, Henry O’Connell and Margaret (Heming) Weber.  On May 29, 1943, in East Pittsburgh, she married Fred G. Mardorff, who preceded her in death on February 5, 1998.  She is survived by the following family: daughter, Suzie wife of Daniel Lynch, of Short Gap, WV, daughter, Kathy Lynn Avery, of Bedford, son, Michael W. Mardorff, of Lykens, daughter, Betsy wife of Bernard “Tweet” Snider, of New Enterprise, daughter, Marianne wife of Lowell Rogers, of Everett, and Nancy wife of Joseph Sivits, of New Paris; 15 grandchildren: Sandra Stephens, Theresa Green, Dan Lynch, Matthew Mardorff, Brenda Fincke, Angela Mitnik, Bill and Brent Snider, Apryl Spencer, Caroline Robinette, Cara Hendrickson, Lindsey Huss, Chris Rogers, Elizabeth Bell, and Michael Sivits and, many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marlene May, of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Lightsey, Rita Richie, Mary Popelish, and one infant brother.  After graduating from Bedford High School, she attended beauty school in Pittsburgh, and worked as a beautician until marrying and raising six children.  She eventually went back into the work force at Ed’s Steak House and worked there for 25 years.  She enjoyed working at Ed’s making many good friends and meeting a lot of interesting people.  Her family meant everything to her.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and left behind many happy memories for her family.  She was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford.  Hilda enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting for her family and working outside with her flowers. After retirement she loved spending time on her front porch, sitting on her swing and enjoyed the visitors that would stop by.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, in Bedford, with Father Donald Dusza, Celebrant.  Burial at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Timothy A.
