Herman J Rhodes

Herman J. Rhodes, 63 of Bedford Valley Road, Bedford went home to be with the Lord on September 3, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.   He was born on August 21, 1953 in Roaring Spring, a son of the late George W. and Lois L. (Butler) Rhodes.  On May 15, 1976, in Bedford, he married Donna L. (Wertz) Rhodes, who survives along with two sons: Matthew J. Rhodes, of Everett, and Mark A. Rhodes, of Bedford; three grandchildren: Kylynne, Bryson, and Madisyn; two sisters: Miriam Weigner, and husband Bill, of Souderton, and M. Jean Maloney, and husband Earl, of Taylors, SC; three brothers: George W. Rhodes Jr., and wife Kathy, of Roaring Spring, James Rhodes, and wife Wanda, of Buffalo Mills, and Herbert Rhodes, and wife Rhonda, of Alum Bank; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Becky Rhodes, and two brothers: Joseph L. Rhodes, and Edward K. Rhodes, widow Diane, surviving of Harleysville.

Herman was a member of the Providence Lutheran Church.  In his early years he was a little league and flag football coach for his son’s teams, and was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader.  Herman was an avid morel mushroom hunter, enjoyed ice fishing at the Cumberland Dam, and watching his favorite western shows.

Funeral services will be held private and at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements by the Timothy A.
