Herbert J. Lehman

Herbert J. Lehman, 86, of New Paris, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 15, 2019.   Herb was born January 1933 to the late Robert and Mildred (Smouse) Lehman of Bedford.  On June 4, 1956 he married D. Jean (Fyfe) Lehman, who survives.  Together, they were blessed with 4 children: Connie (Lehman) Hawkins married to Gregory; H. Kevin Lehman married to Brenda (Corle); Kimberly (Lehman) Livingston married to Allen; and Laurie (Lehman) Criswell married to Bradley.  Herb enjoyed his 5 grandchildren, Devin Livingston, M.D. and girlfriend, Melynne Sciranko, Angel Lehman, Keeley Criswell, Mackenzie Livingston, and Camden Criswell. He is survived by a sister Rose (Lehman) Musselman, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy (Lehman) Fyfe, and an infant brother.

Herb graduated from Bedford High School in 1950.  After high school he joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Waldron DD669.  Upon returning, Herb began employment at Kennametal Inc., where after 41 years, he retired.  Herb enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting with his son, building and flying model airplanes, singing in the church choir, and camping.  Herb served with the Bedford County Honor Guard.  He was a loyal member to Bedford Lodge #320 F&AM and served as Worshipful Master. Herb was an active member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church, serving on the church council.  Special thanks to Pastor Dan Oldham, Rebecca’s Personal Care Home, and Heartland Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church with Pastor Dan Oldham officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church with Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. and one half hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
