Herbert H. Evans

Herbert H. Evans, 86, of Egolf Road, Bedford, died Sunday, March 14, 2015, at Hillview Nursing Home, in Altoona.  He was born on November 2, 1928, a son of the late Louis Evans and Odella (Hook) Leasure.  On April 26, 1961, in Winchester, VA, he married Gertrude P. (Fotchman) Evans, who survives along with two daughters: Cloe Boswell, and Jan Paliza, both of Ann Arbor, MI; two step-sons: David C. Kagarise, married to the former Bonnie Hoenstine, of Imler, and Donald E. Kagarise, married to the former, Kathy Musselman, of Strasburg, VA; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a brother Louis Evans, widow Bernice Evans, surviving of Bedford, daughter, Joanne Fogle, and a step-father, Jordan Leasure.

Mr. Evans was a produce manager for A&P for 34 years, and retired from Giant Eagle, after 11 years.  He was a member of the Trinity UCC Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada with Jim Duffy.  He also enjoyed rabbit hunting with his dogs and coonhounds, tending to his garden, and woodworking.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. _______________, officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
