Hazel M. Gates, 94, of, Baltimore, MD went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at her residence. She was born on May 9, 1921, in Bedford, a daughter of the late George and Stella (Earnest) Arnold. She is survived by two brothers: G. “Donald” Arnold, and special friend, Irene of Baltimore, MD, Charles D. Arnold, widower of Lou Dahle, of Bedford, a special friend, Gunther Reinsburg of Baltimore, MD; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Victor Arnold, and William Dale Arnold wife Mary Ellen who survives of Bedford, and a baby brother, Ernie Arnold.
Hazel lived in Baltimore but still stayed connected with St. John’s UCC in Bedford. She worked for Glenn L. Martin Bomber Factory during WWII and then worked as a comparison shopper for the Heck Company. She graduated from Bedford High School and enjoyed spending time with all of her nieces and nephews. She had a love for music and encouraged her brother Donald in his work with his orchestra. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with her brother Charles D. Arnold officiating. Burial will be private. Friends will be received on Monday, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Hazel’s name to the South Central Blind Assoc., 202 South Juliana St., Bedford, PA 15522.
