Hazel Jean Clark, 88, of Gettysburg, died on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital. She was born on September 30, 1936 in Cairnbrook, a daughter of the late Admiral Dewey “Merle” and Julia M. (Custer) Frazier. On November 14, 1970 in Point, she married Donald O. Clark who survives along with the following family: a son Michael Hilmer and wife Patt of Worland, WY; a son Terry Hilmer of Harrisburg; a daughter Julia Hilmer Ickes and husband Randy of Imler; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Mary Belle Griffith of Schellsburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Rose Marie Poeppelmeyer, and Erma Rose; four brothers: Frank, George, A.J. "Bud", and Fred Frazier.
Hazel worked for 12 years at Kennametal in Bedford. She attended Cambria-Rowe Business College and graduated from Johnstown Vo-Tech as an LPN. She was one of the first LPN’s to be hired at the Visiting Nurses of Northern, VA. She retired from VNA/Innova after 13 years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Jim Miller officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to your local food bank in Jean’s memory.
