Harry G. Whetstone

Harry G. Whetstone, 68, of Durham Road, Bedford, died Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.  He was born on October 7, 1946, a son of the late Harold S. and Gladys E. (Diehl) Whetstone.  On October 2, 1965, in Bedford, he married Linda (Kidd) Whetstone, who survives along with the following family: two sons, Brian G. Whetstone, wife Kimlie, and Joel E. Whetstone, wife Billie Jo, both of Bedford; five grandchildren: Heather, Hannah, Hailie, Amanda, and Amber; four sisters: Florence Ritchey, of New Enterprise, June Mountain, and husband Charles, of New Enterprise, Mary Ann Barger, of Texas, Margaret Wachter, of New Enterprise, Lee Whetstone, and wife Diane, of Mechanicsburg, Ed Whetstone, and wife Wilma, of Chambersburg, and Clyde Whetstone, and wife Jean, of Manns Choice.  He was preceded in death by a brother David Whetstone, widow Beradine, surviving of Bedford, and a sister Mildred Harr, widower, Richard, surviving of Osterburg.

Harry was a truck driver, hauling milk for over 30 years, and also owned his own garbage business.  He also worked on his farm, raising beef cows, and riding horses in his spare time.  He was a member of the Trans Run Methodist Church, enjoyed word searches, crossword puzzles, and especially his grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Beth Pyles, officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Harry’s name to: Trans Run Methodist Church, c/o Eilene Kidd, 1631 Egolf Road, Bedford, PA 15522.
