H. Karl Beegle

H. Karl “Grandaddy” Beegle, 82 of K and M Lane, Bedford died, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Altoona Hospital.  He was born September 17, 1927 in Bedford, son of the late Joseph A. S. and Grace R. (Hunt) Beegle.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred W. (Bowman) Beegle on May 29, 1988.  On October 25, 1991 in Manns Choice, he married Marjorie (Latshaw) and she survives along with the following children:  Cynthia wife of Fred McKinley of Bedford, Cheryl Kontos of Richmond, VA, Clifford Beegle married to the former Jackie Faust of Friends Cove, Karen wife of David Helsel of New Paris and Kelly wife of Doug Miller of Mapleton Depot, ten grandchildren: Monica and Connie McKinley, Jennie wife of Donnie Decker, Luke Beegle and wife Krista, Alexandra Kontos, Erin wife of Joe Weyant, Amanda wife of Shane Hillegass, Katlyn Helsel, Brandie wife of Robert Shields and Natalie Miller.  Also surviving are nine great grandchildren and two sisters; Lois Cypher of Seaford, DE and Mary Ellen wife of Robert Land of Friends Cove.  He was preceded in death by two sisters; Ada Konhaus and Ruth Williams, and a brother Dr. J. Allan Beegle, husband of Ruth, of East Lansing, MI, who survives

Mr. Beegle was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Counsel, was president of the Cemetery Association and a member of the Church Choir where he loved to sing solos.  He was a self-employed dairy farmer on the same farm where his was born and raised.  He also drove school bus.  He was a director for the Interstate Milk Producers Coop, a former director for Friends Cove Insurance Company, a former director for the Bedford Area School  District and was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1944.

Funeral Services: Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Friends Cove, with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.  Burial at the church cemetery.  Friends will be received on Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy A., Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.  Those wishing may make contributions to the St. Mark’s Roof Fund, or the St. Mark’s Cemetery Association, o/c Stacey Bussard, 156 Gould Lane, Bedford, PA  15522 in his memory.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
