Granville Sherman “Barney” Barnes 75 of S. Richard St., Bedford, died Monday morning, April 30, 2007 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1931 in Snake Spring TWP, son of the late Sherman E. and Anna Elizabeth (Diehl) Barnes. In May of 1953 he in Cumberland, MD he married Mildred Shoemaker and she survives along with one son Keith of Hopewell and two grandchildren: Jessica and Shawn and five great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Belva wife of Arden Karns of Everett, Roxanna wife of Bernard Price of Bedford, James Barnes married to the former Viola Colledge of Windsor, Wayne Barnes married to the former Joan Ritchey of Everett, Randolph Barnes of colonial Heights, VA, Rodger Barnes married to the former Linda Randell of Everett, William Barnes and wife Vera of Douglasville, GA, Patsy Barnes of Cornelius, NC and Vickey Phillips of Berwick, PA.
Mr. Barnes was of the Protestant faith and was a wounded Korean War veteran. His hobbies were fishing and coin collecting. He enjoyed football, NASCAR and blue grass. He was retired from Hedstrom Corp.
Funeral Services: Thursday 11:00 am in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Robert Snyder officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
