Pastor Grace P. Whitfield, 81, of Chicken Hill Lane, Bedford, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Altoona Hospital. She was born on August 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Patrick Drenning and Sarah (Miller) Houseworth. On June 5, 1950, in Cumberland, MD, she married Thomas Allen Whitfield who survives along with the following family: a son, Thomas P. Whitfield married to the former Susan Gant of Weaverly, GA, two granddaughters: Tiffany Rice and husband Donald of Bedford and Shelly Kennedy and husband Richard of Brunswick, GA three great grandchildren: Justin, Nicholas, and Paris Kennedy, one brother, Stanley Drenning and wife Mary of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Grace was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church and worked as a Lay Minister for 11 years with the United Methodist Church, Bedford Valley Charge. Prior to that she retired as a mapper for the Tax Accessors Office for Bedford County.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with the Rev. Michael Leedom officiating burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Centerville United Methodist Church, 1044 Centerville Road, Bedford, PA 15522. Arrangements by the Timothy A.
