Glen R. Cussins

Glen R. Cussins, 91, of Sunnybrook Acres, Bedford, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at his residence. He was born on October 26, 1923, in Bedford, a son of the late John R. and Delphia (Alt) Cussins. On April 10, 1943, in Cumberland, MD, he married Lois Evelyn (Oster) Cussins who preceded him in death on March 18, 2013. He is survived by the following family: two daughters: Glenna, wife of Joseph Caro Jr. of Bedford, and Mary Ellen, wife of Mark Adams of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren: James, and wife Sarah, Josh, and Matthew Foster, Beau Caro, Carly wife of Scott Caves, Daniel Caro, and fiancée Janel Novak, Christina and Clifford Adams; six great-grandchildren: Jake and Joey Twigg, Sara, Olivia, Christian, and Corrin Foster; one step-great grandson, Dalton, two great-great grandchildren: Kyra, and James; and a sister Helen Oster, of Everett. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Foster-Caro; two brothers: Lester and Paul Cussins; and a sister, Audra Wertz.
Mr. Cussins was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He owned and operated a farm for 11 years, and drove truck. He was the first bulk milk hauler in Bedford County, and continued with that for 35 years. He retired in 1981, from driving for Motor Freight. In 1973 he built the apartment house on East Penn Street. He and his wife owned a cottage in Deep Creek Lake, MD, where they enjoyed boating, and water skiing. He enjoyed traveling seeing 48 of the 50 states and spending over 21 years in Florida during the winters.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Raymond E. Short, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service on Wednesday.
