Gladys Coyle

Gladys Coyle, 96, of Ash Lawn Road Bedford, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at her residence. She was born on November 26, 1910 in California, PA, a daughter of the late George E. and Orthelia (Layton) Howes. On July 7, 1943 in Centerville, She married the late Earnest Coyle and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2005. She is survived by a daughter Thalia wife of Robert Fleetwood of Bedford, 3 grandchildren Robert Jr. & Jamie, both of Bedford and Melanie wife of Jamie Stolar of South Park, a sister in law, Louise and husband Ronald West of Clairmont, Fl, She was preceded in death by one brother Dr. Allan J. Howes and his wife Sally survives of Bedford, and one sister Della Mae Spillman.

She was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and an elder at Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Prosperity, PA.   She was a life member of the Eastern Star, Washington Chapter 409, and of the retired teachers of Washington, PA.  She graduated from California University and retired after 35 years of teaching in 1971 from Avonworth School District in Pittsburgh.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at 11:00 AM from the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with the Rev. Doug Friant officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Monday from 7-9 PM, and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
