George L. Mcklveen

October 1, 1920 — July 5, 2008

George L.  McKlveen 87, of Friendship Village, in Bedford, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home.  He was born October 1, 1920 in Latrobe, a son of the late Charles L. and the late Della J. (Hall) McKlveen. On November 18, 1942 in Winchester, VA, he married Jean E. Hart and she survives along with two daughters, Darla J. wife of Kenneth B. Rhodes of Bedford, and Donna L. Yoder of Mechanicsburg, five grandchildren, Kimberly wife of Stacy Sublett of State College, Randall Rhodes married to the former Jodi Sulkosky of Manheim, Erin wife of Josiah Montgomery of Warrensburg, Missouri, Andrew Jacobs married to the former Michelle Rodriguez of Dillsburg, Holly wife of Matthew  Holbrook of Mechanicsburg, 12 great grandchildren, and one Sister, Helen wife of Carl Saich of Pittsburgh.  He was preceded in death by a daughter Leanne Jacobs wife of Michael of Dillsburg, and one sister Dorothy McKlveen.

George was a veteran of World War II as a Navy Torpedo Instructor. He retired as a salesman for Singer and Sears Robuck.  He was a charter elder of the Christian Fellowship Center of Derry.  He sang for many years with the Chestnut Ridge Southern Gospel Quartet.  For the last ten years George has been a resident of Friendship Village and coordinator for the gospel sings at Friendship Village Campground.  George was loved and will be missed by all.  He was a Christian influence to not only his family but by all those who knew him.

Funeral Services:  Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at 10:30 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford with the Pastor Stacy Sublett officiating.  Burial 3:30 PM on Tuesday at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont.  Friends will be received on Monday, July 7, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, and Tuesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
