Genevieve L. Turner

Genevieve L. “Gen” Turner, 84, of Hummingbird Lane, Bedford, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at her residence.  She was born on September 2, 1929, in Everett, a daughter of the late Foster E. Shaffer and Clara M. (Brantner) Shaffer-Shaw.  On April 16, 1947, in Cumberland, MD, she married Harry C. Turner, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1995.  She is survived by following family: five sons, Dennis W. Turner and wife Sandy, of Everett, Steven C. Turner, of Woodstock, AL, Richard C. Turner, of Bedford, Terry R. Turner, and wife Kris, of New Paris, and Dan J. Turner, and wife Denyce, of Breezewood, three daughters, Kathy A. wife of Joseph T. Ronan Jr., of Everett, Linda M. wife of Harvey R. Clayton, of Hopkins, SC, and Penny L. wife of Barry Grubb, of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by: a son Harry C. Turner Jr; and five brothers: Ross Brantner, Dennis Shaffer, Donald Shaffer, Ralph Shaffer, and Floyd Shaw Jr.

Mrs. Turner loved to bowl, and was a part of the United States Bowling Congress League, at Holiday Bowl, in Altoona.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Paul Claycomb officiating.  A meal will follow the funeral ceremony at 12:30, from the Friends Cove UCC, Double Brick, Church, in Colerain Township.  Friends will be received on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m., until the hour of the service.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Genevieve’s name to: Bedford County Humane Society, 1108 Lutzville Road, Everett, PA 15537.
