Gary L. Defibaugh

Gary L. Defibaugh, 73 of Fallow Field Drive, Bedford died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, in Pittsburgh.  He was born on November 17, 1942 in Bedford, a son of the late C. Harold and Mabel R. (Hershberger) Defibaugh.  On May 17, 1985 in New Enterprise, he married Vicky (Ferry) Defibaugh who survives along with the following family: a daughter Victoria “Vickie” Lemley of Bedford, a son Ric Defibaugh and fiancée Janet Hoover, of Bedford, and a step-son Ryan J. Eagleson, of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Geisler and wife Jennifer and Steven Geisler and fiancée Jessie, and Matthew Defibaugh; a step-grandson Jacob Eagleson; five great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Noah, Austin, Aiden, and Gavin Geisler; two step-great-grandchildren: Layla and Liam Eagleson; a sister Sharon L. Burtnett, wife of Kenneth, and a brother Barry L. Defibaugh, married to the former Star Slick, both of Bedford, and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald W. Defibaugh, wife Mary who survives of Jamestown, OH.

Gary was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church and a graduate of Bedford High School.  He retired in 2006 from Kennametal after 45 years.   He enjoyed following Penn State and the Bedford High School sports, especially the wrestling and football teams.  He enjoyed golfing, racing go-karts, NASCAR, NFL, cars, hunting, riding motorcycles and horses.  After his retirement he took a solo motorcycle trip to California, and came back through the southern states.  He was a member of the Bedford Elks Lodge #1707, and the coffee crowd at McDonalds.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Howard Sloan, officiating. Burial will be  Private. Friends will be received on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, 5543 Business 220, Bedford, PA 15522.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
