Fred T. Tew

Fred T. Tew, 68 of Bedford, died on December 20, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born on February 8, 1949, at the family farm on Teaberry Road in Bedford, a son of the late Ralph E. and Anna Mae (Mowry) Tew. On August 21, 1977, in Bedford, he married Ruth (Constable) Tew who survives along with the following family,  four sons: Donnie Tew and girlfriend Johnna, of Everett, Gary Tew and girlfriend Jamie, of Bedford, James Tew and girlfriend Jackie, of Bedford; and Jacob Tew also of Bedford; five grandchildren:  Devin, Katlyn, Kody, Abigail, and Violet; two great grandchildren:  Taylor and Brantley;  three sisters: Evelyn wife of John Oldham, of New Paris, Doris wife of Ray Smith, of Ashtabula, OH, and Diana Tew, of Everett; four brothers: Tom Tew widower of Linda, of New Paris, Lester Tew, of Fort Worth, TX, Ronnie Tew and wife Debbie, of Bedford, and Steve Tew widower of Patricia, of Schellsburg. He was preceded in death by five brothers Ralph, Ken, Ed, Charles, Roger, wife Bonnie who survives of Breezewood, and an infant brother, Richard Tew; two sisters, Hazel and Mary.

Fred worked as a machine operator for 22 years at May Bigley Pin Mill in Bedford.  He also worked maintenance at Host Marriott at the North Midway Plaza on the turnpike and Burgmeiers Hauling. He grew up and was very devoted to helping his father on the family farm. He loved his family and being outdoors.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Bruce Maxwell officiating.  Burial will be private.  Friends will be received on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
