Fred E. Steele

Fred E. Steele, 85, of Hospital Drive, Everett, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.  He was born on August 1, 1929, in Loysburg, a son of the late Fred F. and Martha E. (Hetrick) Steele.  He is survived by the following family: two sisters: Eleanor Foreman, and E. Jean Steele, both of Everett; two brothers: Ivan Steele and wife Dee, of Lancaster, and Marlin Steele, and wife Bonnie, of McConnellsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Steele was a 1948 graduate of Bedford High School, and then attended Penn State Altoona.  He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War and then went to work on the Ford Motor Company assembly line at the Mahwah, NJ plant. Fred enjoyed attending all the Bedford High School sporting events, especially wrestling matches, and was a member of the Bedford American Legion Post #113, and Bedford VFW Post #7527.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Beverly Swindell, officiating, and Military Rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m., until the hour of the service.  Our online guestbook is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
