Florence R. Wertz

Florence R. Wertz, 91, of Bedford, died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Carrol's Rest Home. She was born on May 7, 1923, in Summerhill, a daughter of the late G. Emory and Grace (Gladfelter) Ritchey. On October 23, 1943 in Cumberland, MD, she married Cletus B. Wertz who preceded her in death on November 10, 1982. She is survived by a daughter:  Nancy G. Raygor widow of Arlen of Sadsburyville, two sons: William B. married to the former Kris Landis, and David E. married to the former Sharon Sciranko, all of Bedford; four grandchildren:  Johnny Boyd, Judy Ickes, Melinda Foor, and Greg Wertz; one step granddaughter, Christina Raygor; three great grandchildren:  Aron Ickes, Austin, and Andrew Foor; one step great grandson, Timothy Woolman; one sister, Erma Bailets of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by one brother, Junior E. Ritchey.

Florence was a member of the Providence Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose Chapter # 1245 and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She spent a lot of time volunteering with the RSVP.  She also enjoyed camping, working in the garden, and making ice cream and cookies.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Raymond E. Short officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
