Florence I. Fisher

Florence I. Fisher, 92, of Pensyl Hollow Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home. She was born on December 2, 1920, in Millerstown a daughter of the late Charles E. and Isabella (Machamer) Bechtel. On July 2, 1949, in Gordon, she married Lawrence L. Fisher who preceded her in death on October 4, 2006.  She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Smith and husband Robert W. of New Paris, June I. Smith and husband William D. of Schellsburg, three grandchildren; Christy Topper and husband Jesse, Scott Brallier and wife Carol, and Tanya Detwiler and companion Robert, two step-grandchildren; Stacey Callahan and Heather Kauffman, six great grandchildren; Anthony, Joshua, Joseph, Jonah, Grace, and Anna and one sister, Dorothy Radle of Linglestown.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Trumetta and Catherine Savage, four brothers, Marlin, Harry, George and Donald Bechtel, and an infant brother Galen.

Florence was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church.  During WWII she worked in Middleton at the Army Depot as a lathe operator.  She and her husband were famous for their strawberry patches.  She was a loving mother who enjoyed having her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren around.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. Jeff Welsch officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
