Fannie Ida (Ritchey) Wertz

Fannie Ida Wertz, 80, of Rock Hall, MD, formerly of (Penndel, PA) passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. She was born on June 6, 1935, in Friends Cove, PA, a daughter of the late Lloyd S. and Mary Ida (Diehl) Ritchey. On June 6, 1953, in Cumberland, MD, she married Gary L. Wertz and together they made their home in Bedford, PA until 1961 when they moved to Penndel, PA and continued their life together until his death on July 7, 2003. She is survived by a son, Danny Wertz married to the former Robin Wehrs, of Langhorne, PA; a daughter, Debbie Bergen and husband Don, of Rock Hall, MD who Fannie resided with the last 5 years;  a son, Greg Wertz married to the former Pat Pearson, of Churchville, PA; five grandchildren:  Nathan Wertz, Holly Winiesky, Donny Bergen, Danielle Pierzynski, and Tim Wertz, seven great-grandchildren:  Ethan and Abby Wertz, Matthew and Katie Bergen, Benjamin and Ava Pierzynski, and Owen Winiesky; three brothers, Robert Ritchey widower of Betty, of Bedford, John Ritchey and wife Jeanne of Cypress, TX, George Ritchey and wife Carol of Lititz, PA; two sisters, Mary "Louise" Hartsock and husband Harold of Lake Mary, FL, and Mildred "Pug"  Rose, widow of Ronnie, of Bedford.  She was preceded in death by an infant brother and one sister Hazel.

Fannie was a member of the Rock Hall United Methodist Church in MD. The most important things to Fannie were family, church family and her Lord.  In her spare time she liked read, knit, watch birds, and work on word search puzzles.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, PA with Pastor Phil Ealy officiating.  Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
