Evelyn Irwin Claycomb 93 of Pennknoll Village, died Tuesday January 15, 2008 at Pennknoll. She was born April 11, 1914 in Bedford, daughter of the late Grover and Rebecca (Devore) Hershberger. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David C. Irwin in 1963 and by her second husband E. Harold Claycomb in 1984. She is survived by three children: James D. Irwin married to the former Shirley Bowser, Judy M. wife of Sam Hoagland and Marion L. Widow of Robert Faust all of Bedford. Also Surviving are 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, one brother Clifford Hershberger and wife Janet of Greensburg, a step-son Allen Claycomb and wife Grace of Sterling, VA and a step-daughter Mary Ann wife of Dale Whysong of Manassas, VA. She was preceded in death by a son Roger, a brother Allen Hershberger and a sister Virginia Hoenstine.
Mrs. Claycomb was a graduate of Bedford High School class of 1933. She was a member of the Assembly of God Village Church and did volunteer work at Old Bedford Village after her retirement from G. C. Murphy Company where she had worked for 35 years.
Funeral Services: Friday 11:00 am in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Paul E. Claycomb officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
