Eugene Jay

Eugene Jay, 91, of Transfer, died on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Carriage Manor in New Castle, PA.  He was born on February 21, 1932 in Breezewood, a son of the late Dewey and Marie (Williams) Jay. On December 21, 1952 in Winchester, VA he married Viriginia P. (Gilpin) Jay and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2016. He is survived by a daughter Jerri Locke widow Jim of Bedford; a son Dennis “Lynn” Jay and wife Terri of Hermitage; four grandchildren:  Amber, Kris, Preston, and Carly; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers David and Richard Jay, and two sisters:  Arlene Felton and Naomi Whisel.

Eugene was employed as a truck driver and drove for Cooper-Jarrett, Hall’s Motor Transit, & Preston Trucking.  He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church in Breezewood and attended Orangeville Methodist Church in Orangeville, PA.  He loved spending time with his family, entertaining and creating fun for his grandchildren, and enjoyed helping people.  He worked  hard and was always generous.  His greatest years were spending time with his wife.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Bill Whisel officiating. Burial at Mt. Union Cemetery in Mench.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.   Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
