Erma M. (Himes) Dent

Erma M. Dent, 98, of Bedford, died on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Bedford Colonial Courtyard. She was born on March 28, 1927, in Kearney, a daughter of the late Chester S. and Pauline (Anderson) Himes. On September 4, 1954 in Bethesda, MD, she married Theodore Dent Jr. and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1987. She is survived by two sons: James and wife Katherine Dent of Parkton, NC, and Theodore Dent “Billy” of St. Pete, FL; and a sister, Greta Shontz of Bedford. She was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel and Jimmie Himes and a sister, Anna Rae Keifman.

Erma was a member of the Bedford Methodist Church and retired from the University of Southern Florida after many years of working as a secretary in offices all over the world. She enjoyed reading, politics, and traveling.
