Emanuel D. Conner

Emanuel D. “Mac” Conner, 86, of Old Town Road, Fishertown, died early Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 26, 1926, in Everett, a son, of the late James and Freda (Croyle) Conner.  On September 30, 1950, in Fishertown, he married Shirley Ickes who survives along with three daughters: Terry wife of Walter Douglas of Fishertown, Cathy wife of Richard Evans of Schellsburg, and Wendy Dively; seven grandchildren: Scott Ibarra and Wife Saehee, Shanna Fye and husband Eric, Shelly MacGregor and husband Matt, Dan Parks and wife Emily, Jesse McGinnett, Alex Dively, and Ethan Douglas; two step-grandchildren:  Mindy and Michelle Douglas; five great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Austin, Julie, Jax, and Gracie; two sisters: Anna Marie and husband Charles Corwin of Mentor, OH, Rachael widow of Bob Thomas of Youngstown, OH, and a brother Earnest Byers and wife Nancy of Arizona.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jenna Dively, a brother Donald and a sister Dorothy.

He was a WWII Army veteran serving in Luzon Bataan, and Corregidor.  At the end of WWII, he reenlisted and went to Korea and was discharged in 1946.  He retired after 30 years as a truck driver for Continental and Motor Freight.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 11:00 am, in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford. With Rev. Ned Donaldson Burial at Fishertown Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.  Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m., and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
