Elma H. Rose, 82, of Centerville, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her son’s residence in Hancock, MD. She was born on January 11, 1933, in Bedford, a daughter of the late Sherman and Gertrude (Ruby) Williams. On March 20, 1954, in Bedford Valley, she married Alvin “Homer” Rose, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2010. She is survived by a son, Ken B. Rose, married to the former Christina Kirby, of Hancock, MD; four brothers: Charles Williams, and wife Joyce, of Cumberland, MD, Norman Williams, and wife Loretta, of Winchester, VA, Donald Williams, and wife Gail, of Pleasantville, and Ronald Williams, and wife Terri, of Centerville; and a sister Betty Layton, and husband Bill, of Dinwiddie, VA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Williams, and a sister Delores Miller.
Mrs. Rose was a member of Providence Lutheran Church, and owned and operated, with her husband, Rose’s Orchard. She also worked for Daryl Clark’s Auctioneer Service. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, cooking, traveling and playing cards.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Pastor Robert Custer, officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, in Centerville. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
