Elizabeth A. Walton

Elizabeth A. “Bette” Walton, 83, of S. Juliana St., Bedford, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at UPMC Bedford Memorial.  She was born on October 23, 1928 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Bernard R. and Pearl (Yutzy) Arnold. On September 4, 1961 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, she married Coates Walton Jr., and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1995.  She is survived by two children; Joseph C. Walton of Everett, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Walton of Bedford, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Joseph Arnold, husband of Barbara (Nave) Arnold of Bedford, and J. Robert Arnold, husband of the late Grace Ann (Hankinson) Arnold,

Mrs. Walton was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford and a past member of the Catholic Daughters and Jr. Catholic Daughters.  She was past president of BPW, a member of the Bedford Elks Ladies Golf Assoc, Bedford Elks Bowling Assoc, American Legion, Bedford Co. Arts Center and past member of Bedford Hospital Auxiliary.  She was a 1946 graduate of Bedford High School and attended Albany, NY Institute of History and Art.  She was a partner at Arnold’s Floor Covering since 1946, and had been an avid golfer for over 50 years.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford with Father Donald Dusza, celebrant.  Burial at the family cemetery in Madley.  Friends will be received on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Bedford County Library, 240 S.
