Elberta J. Fillo, 83 of Dogwood Road, Bedford, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Johnstown. She was born September 27, 1924 in Bedford Twp, daughter of the late Harry A. and Clara (DeVore) Shaffer. She is survived by a daughter, Lana, wife of Robert Smee of Shermansdale; a sister, Dorothy wife of Dale Fetter of Bedford; and 19 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by twin sons, two brothers: John H. and Harry M. Shaffer and two sisters: Kathryn Shafer and Arvilla May.
Mrs. Fillo was affiliated with the Tulls Hill Bible Church. She was the business owner of Fillo Trailer Park on Pensyl Hollow Road, and for many years had worked as a cook at Ed’s Steak House. She also had driven school bus, and in her younger years did farming and flew airplanes. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, a wonderful neighbor, friend, and landlord. She will be thoroughly missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and her compassionate caregiver Peggy Beaujon, as well as her pet, Sparky. She was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1942.
Funeral services: Friday, 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor James West officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.
