Edward E. Seager, 86, of Bedford, died on Friday, September 19, 2025 at his home. He was born on January 20, 1939 in Bedford, a son of the late Elmer Ellwood and Irene (Eisenhart) Seager. On September 4, 1964 in Cumberland, MD, he married Priscilla L. (Amtower) Seager who preceded him in death on December 31 2012. He is survived by a daughter Heather L. Seager of Ashville, NC and a son Erick Seager and wife Christine of Bedford; two grandchildren, Erick R. and Allison K. Seager.
Ed worked for Kelly Springfield Tire in Cumberland as an auditor where he met his future wife Priscilla, Ernst & Young as an accountant in Philadelphia, and then returned to Bedford in 1967 to join his father and formed Seager & Seager CPAs which then grew into Seager, Seager, Webb. Ed was also was the co-owner of the May & Bigley Pin Mill from 1971 until 1998. He founded the Southern Alleghenies Photographic Workshop with the late Bob Webb, owned the former Brass Quail restaurant in Hollidaysburg, had a small timber brokering company, and Bedford-U-Store-It storage rentals.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a former Rotarian for over 30 years, a former board member of the Allegheny Mts Chapter of Safari Club International, helped coach the 1969 Jaycee state BB gun championship team, was a 50 year member of the “chain crew” for Bedford Bison football games, and a member of other numerous boards over the years. Ed was a 47 year season ticket holder for Pitt Panthers football,
a member of the Golden Panthers, and was instrumental in bringing the Pitt cheerleaders to Bedford in the early 80s for the annual bed races.
In his “free time” Ed hunted and traveled. He layed feet on 6 continents and in over 50 countries. In the mid 80s he competed in the One Lap of America auto race and was member of the 50 state club. He visited the African continent over 20 times on safaris and each time stuffed his bag with clothing, shoes, candy, and deflated soccer balls to give away to whatever village he was hunting near. He always believed the best charity was that which was never recognized. Ed held 35 Safari Club International awards with his top African achievement being honored by the Dallas Safari Club in 2013 for his Royal Antelope. He was very well versed in true African culture from many different nations and would tell those who inquired… Don’t believe what the TV tells you, I’ve been there and I’ve seen it myself.
From his business world to his social world, if you asked for his opinion you would get it, but don’t get upset, because you’re the one that asked.
Ed became quite private over the last few years due to his health and “the state of this crazy world”, choosing to spend more time in “his woods” and watching his grandchildren turn into amazing young adults, for that reason there will be no viewing and a small private ceremony at his request.
The family would like to whole heartedly thank “the girls” from Gentiva Hospice who went above and beyond during Ed’s final days at home.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 106 W Penn St., Bedford, PA 15522 or the Bedford Volunteer Fire Dept., 248 W Penn St., Bedford, PA 15522.
