Edna S. Mowery

Edna S. Mowery, 105, of Osterburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at The Village of Morrisons Cove.  She was born on October 18, 1902 in Imler.  A daughter of the late Sherman and Emma Jane (Miller) Kauffman. On November 28, 1920 in Osterburg, she married Charles W. Mowery who preceded her in death on August 12, 1967.  She is survived by the following family, two daughters, Marvelene wife of Albert Kooistra of Maitland, Fl, Thelma wife of Ray Hoagland of Cessna, and one son, Elden married to the former Charlotte Greise of Cumberland, MD, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sons:  Sherman & Eugene Mowery and 1 sister:  Alma Johnston.

She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Osterburg where she played the organ and piano for many years.  She retired in 1964 as a telephone operator for United Telephone Company in Bedford.  She was a life member of Independent Telephone Pioneer Association, Bedford American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of E.L.C. She was a former member of Mrs. Obie Snider’s Bible Study Group.

Funeral Services on Wednesday, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. Donna Wolfinger officiating.  Burial in Fishertown Cemetery.  Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9 PM, and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
