Edna M. Holland

Edna Mae Holland, 92, formerly of 6th Ave. Juniata, Altoona, went to her heavenly home on May 8, 2012.  She was born on January 15, 1920, in Reynoldsdale, a daughter of the late Ralph Jacob and Esther Margaret (Kauffman) Hengst.  She was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Ted” Hyskell Holland, whom she married April 17, 1940 in Osterburg.  She is survived by a daughter Mary O’Donnell of Mechanicsburg, where Edna had recently made her home, also surviving is a son Ronald Holland of Salunga.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, many step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three sisters; Lottie Way of New Paris, Arlene Fraizer of Bedford and Geraldine Mock of Imler. She was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Douglass.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Juniata, Altoona.  She was a Juniata Homemakers Gold Star Mother, a member of Altoona Hospital Auxiliary and a twenty plus year volunteer at the VA Hospital in Altoona.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, with Rev. John Klingman officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday morning.  In memory of Edna, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or her church.  Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com
