Edna V. Hite, 93, of Bedford Valley Road, Bedford, died Sunday December 14, 2008 at her home. She was born December 18, 1914 in Cumberland Valley TWP, daughter of the late Clyde and Minnie (Rice) Elliott. On September 20, 1940 in Cumberland, MD she married A. Dewayne “Jinx” Hite and he survives, along with a daughter, Bonnie L., wife of John Suveg of Bedford, a grandson, John W. Ryan, and wife Kimberly of Bedford, three sisters: Grace McElfish, Evelyn Adams, both of Cumberland, and Mildred Grabenstein, and husband George, a brother Donald W. Elliott, both of Bedford. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Hilda Elliott, Ruth Zembower, and Hazil Carder, two brothers: William and Edward Elliott.
Edna was a life member of the Bethel Methodist Church and the Cumberland Valley Fire Department. She had worked at Celanese Corp. and retired from Bennetts Restaurant in Bedford. Edna was an avid gardener, quilter and pie baker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Services: Friday December 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bethel Methodist Church with the Grace Whitfield officiating. Burial at the church cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.
