Dorothy W. Nave, 94, of Everett, died on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at UPMC Bedford Hospital while her sons held her hands. She was born on September 5, 1930 in Rainsburg, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Goldie P. (Mowry) Weaverling. On November 14, 1953 in Centerville she married Roger S. Nave who preceded her in death on May 30, 2010. She is survived by two sons: Bradley S. Nave married to the former Kathy Myers of Georgetown, IN; and Bartley W. Nave married to the former Lynn Kilcoin of Lincoln University; five grandchildren: Sarah Flannery and husband Jason of Lanesville, IN; Ashley Symes and husband Christopher of Broken Arrow, OK; Garrett S. Nave of Floyds Knobs, IN; Valerie Nave of Elkton, MD; Stephanie Nave and fiancé Andrew Rougvie of Wilmington, DE; four great-grandchildren: Liam and Alaina Flannery and Luke and Lydia Symes. She was preceded in death by her brother C. Thomas Weaverling.
Dorothy had an incredible work ethic. From serving frozen custard to brazing carbide tips onto mining bits, she could pretty much do anything she put her mind to. When she started her family, she dedicated herself to raising a pair of underweight yet seemingly fearless sons. Dorothy was a loving soul and was considered as a Mother, a good friend and a sister to many. She was adored by her grandchildren, all of which found her observations and commentary both instructional and entertaining. Dorothy was nearly incapable of ambiguity. She had a zest for life and a real sense of adventure, and demonstrated her capacity to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. Dorothy studied and followed Jesus, and knew Heaven was real. In her final days, her assurance of eternity in Heaven had her ready to leave her unreliable body behind. Her family celebrated her freedom from pain but will always miss her laughter.
