Dorothy Mae Shaffer, 85, of Imlertown Road, Bedford, went home to be with the Lord, on Thursday, September 10, 2015, at her residence. She was born on February 4, 1930, in Windber, a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (Manges) Hoagland. On August 5, 1950, she married the love of her life Roy W. Shaffer, Jr., and they spent the next 65 years together. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mitzi wife of James Berkey, and a son, Michael Shaffer Sr., married to the former Tina Conover, both of Bedford; three grandchildren: Michael Shaffer Jr, Lukas Berkey, and Amy (Shaffer) Soler; five great-grandchildren: Cory and Benjamin Berkey, Corban Shaffer, Brodie and Ayden Soler.
Mrs. Shaffer loved the Lord and attended the Everett Church of God, where she was a Sunday School teacher, Missionette Leader, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed making dresses, painting, ceramics, crocheting, camping with her grandchildren, and spending her winters in Florida.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at 10:00 .a.m., in the Chapel, at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, in Bedford, with Rev. William Kisner, officiating. Burial at Bedford County Memorial Park. Friends will be received on Monday, from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
