Dorothy L. Hoffman

Dorothy L. Hoffman, 74, of Bedford, died on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at her residence. She was born on October 10, 1951 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Stanford and Betty (Manges) Shippey. On June 5, 1960 in Bedford, she married Charles F. Hoffman and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2004. She is survived by a son: David Nyahay and wife Teena of Surprise, AZ; a step-son: Douglas Hoffman and wife Gypsy of Red Hill; seven grandchildren: Nicole, Noah, Stevie, Daizy, Charles, Hannah, and Andrew; a great-granddaughter: Layana; two sisters: Peggy Wolfhope widow of Eddie of Schellsburg, and Debra Roseberry and husband Robert of Tyrone; and two brothers: Carl Shippey and wife Shirley and Jack Shippey and wife Linda, both of Schellsburg. She was preceded in death by a son: Brian Nyahay; two sisters: Nancy Shippey and Wilma Emerick; and two brothers: David Shippey and Clyde Shippey Sr.

Dorothy worked as an aide, caretaker, and housekeeper for most of her working life and found great joy in helping others. She also attended the votech for floral arrangement classes and enjoyed painting ceramics and woodcraft. She loved her boys, her grandchildren, and the close bond she shared with her sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford with Matthew Emerick officiating.
